Frequently Asked Questions

It’s normal to have questions before seeing a healthcare professional. Here are some we get asked from time to time.

What is a paediatric dietitian?

A university qualified and expert in childhood nutrition and dietetics. We provide guidance on a range of nutritional issues in order to support your child’s growth and overall wellbeing.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

We know that getting out and about with a new baby can be challenging, even more so if you have more than one child. To make life easier for you we are available for telephone consultation, an online video consult via Telehealth or Covid safe home visits.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

It is not essential to have a referral to make an appointment. However, a visit to your GP may be very helpful for background information. Our dietitian is an APD and is a registered provider with most major Australian Health funds which provide rebates for Dietetic consults. You may also be eligible for Medicare benefits for chronic health conditions.

Can I claim a health insurance rebate, Medicare or NDIS?

Our practitioners are registered with all major Australian health funds. Patients with private health insurance with extras cover will be able to claim for dietetic services.

A referral from a doctor is not necessary for private health rebates.

Patients may also be able to claim through Medicare for chronic conditions and long term treatment plans which involve a GP referral and an Enhanced Primary Care Plan. Some of our practitioners are also registered with NDIS and can work with families who are self or plan managed for NDIS funding. Please note we are unable to invoice third parties and do require families to pay the account in full and then submit to NDIS.

Please get in touch so we can discuss all of this with you and your individual circumstances.
